DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. – CompTIA, the nonprofit association for the global technology industry and workforce, today announced the creation of a new technology interest group (TIG) for the Internet of Things (IoT).
Formation of the CompTIA IoT TIG was revealed earlier this week during ChannelCon Online 2021, the association’s annual event focused on the business of technology.
“IoT is one of the most exciting sectors in the business of technology and one that has broad implications in almost all aspect of our lives and businesses,” said Nancy Hammervik, executive vice president of industry relations and CEO of the CompTIA Tech Career Academy.
CompTIA’s IoT Technology Interest Group is a community for individuals interested in IoT solutions and services and will include business use cases for technology solutions providers. Participants have access to a dedicated online forum where they can share ideas, join discussions, discover relevant resources, and network with peers in the industry.
IoT solutions, according to recent CompTIA research, remain among the most prevalent in the portfolios of channel respondents. IoT is the leading category offered in Canada and the UK, and the second most common emerging tech solution sold in the United States and Benelux. IoT solutions topped the list of emerging technologies sold in each of the last CompTIA State of the Channel studies in 2018 and 2019, respectively.
IoT covers the hardware component, which plays naturally into the channel’s wheelhouse; the ongoing management element that managed services providers can exploit; and the lucrative data collection and analytics piece that is a potential business practice in and of itself.
The new group builds on CompTIA’s growing leadership in IoT. The association’s IoT Advisory Council, comprised of industry thought leaders and technology innovators, has produced a number of resources for the Internet of Things market, including:
How to Succeed in IoT Security : A hard-luck opportunity opened the door for an MSP to save the day and gain a loyal customer with a new IoT security solution.
