The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), the leading trade association for the global information technology industry, announced today that it has signed a new agreement to promote closer space relationships between the United States and Vietnam through improved trade and investment environments for space-related goods and services.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed by CompTIA and the Space Technology Institute, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, a leading national research institute on space science and technology.
“CompTIA and Vietnam’s Space Technology Institute will work to encourage our respective governments to adopt measures that will create an environment where space-related commerce and investment can flourish,” said David Logsdon, Senior Director, Public Sector, and Executive Director of the Space Enterprise Council (SEC). “Our members are the leaders in commercial space and satellite industries on a global scale and this agreement will deliver even more business and research opportunities for enterprises in the U.S. and Vietnam.”
The partnership between CompTIA and the Space Technology Institute provides a framework for the exchange of scientific and technical knowledge in the areas of space technologies and applications.
These collaborative activities could potentially be funded by sources available to each party or via joint grant projects.
According to the agreement, both organizations will work together to foster the growth and ongoing development of small satellites and related support systems, satellite image processing technologies based on artificial intelligence (AI), and robotic technologies such as smart autonomous systems and control software that supports environmental research.
The SEC was founded in 2000 to represent businesses with a commercial interest in space. Throughout the years, the council has grown to represent all sectors of the industry including commercial, civil and national security space. As a forum for space-related companies, the council brings the collective power of its affiliation with CompTIA and its diverse members into a single, unified voice that is used in advocating member interests to policymakers.
