Check Point Software Technologies executive honored for industry leadership

CHICAGO – A dedicated leader who has leveraged her experience and knowledge to drive business and give back to the community is the 2022 Member of the Year at CompTIA, the nonprofit association for the information technology (IT) industry and workforce.

Rita Loncar, head of strategic accounts and federal sales in Canada for Check Point Software Technologies, is recognized by CompTIA for her outstanding service to and impact on the association and the industry.

“Rita is committed to her profession and dedicated to building a stronger and more diverse community,” said M.J. Shoer, chief community officer at CompTIA. “She has worked tirelessly to expand CompTIA’s reach and bring more members into the association. We’re proud to honor her as our Member of the Year.”

Loncar has been an active and dedicated member of CompTIA for several years. She has played an integral role as chair of CompTIA’s Canadian Business Technology Community from 2019-2021, developing and launching the community’s largest and most ambitious initiative: the TechTalent Accelerator program.

The TechTalent Accelerator program, sponsored by CompTIA and supported by Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) and the Ministry of Labour in Ontario, was successfully launched February 2021 after two years in development. The program encourages students from all faculties and backgrounds to join the IT industry by training candidates to be “tech-ready” and able to successfully fill entry-level roles.

“I’m grateful to CompTIA and our Canadian Advisory Board for the opportunity to contribute to the next generation of our IT workforce,” said Loncar. “It’s a great feeling to open doors for so many of our young generation. To be honored for something I’m so passionate about and that brings me joy is humbling.”

Loncar will continue her CompTIA leadership as chair of the new North America Community. Additionally, she serves as a CompTIA Advisory Board Member and was honored as a 2021 CompTIA Spotlight Award winner for demonstrating outstanding commitment, leadership, passion, and professionalism.

The industry is honoring Loncar this week during ChannelCon, CompTIA’s annual industry gathering of technology business thought leaders, decision makers, entrepreneurs and visionaries.

Loncar is the seventh technology industry leader to receive the CompTIA Member of the Year award. Past honorees include Hannah Lloyd, Nellie Scott, Angel L. Piñeiro Jr., Victor Johnston, Tracy Pound and John Tippett.
